More with breathing difficulty screened for Asthma and COPD

May 10, 2024
We are having more people with breathing difficulty coming to our pilot clinic than we can see in a day. This demonstrates the need for LHC service and the feed back has so far been great which we appreciate. Patients showing signs of TB are not screened using the spirometer. However, we have created a channel to refer them directly to the TB screening facility at the Bo Government Hospital for further test. This is a precautionary measure to avoid the spread of TB. Pregnant women are also not screened because natural they show signs of breathlessness and we do our best to explain this to them so they don’t feel ignored. Once again, we are grateful to all our supporters and sponsors. This is what your support and sponsorship means. Thank you immensely!

Completing consent forms with patients unable to read and write before screening.

Lung Health Centre Pilot Screening in Bo – Sierra Leone

The Lung Health Centre are currently in Sierra Leone for one month, screening patients, collecting data and building medical partnerships. This is important groundwork for the Lung Health Centre and our mission to help diagnose, treat and prevent the suffering of lung disease in the country. However, the rural electricity supply is very patchy and we urgently need a generator and fuel to ensure we can continue this project. We estimate that we need £500. Please can you help? By investing in this project, you are helping us screen our current patients and investing in the long-term provision of better Lung Health in Sierra Leone.
